You can install Meta’s Conversion API (CAPI) directly on your WordPress site, but whether you’ll need a third-party tool depends on your tech setup and how hands-on you want to get.
Option 1: Direct Setup (No Third-Party Required)
If you're using the Meta Pixel for WordPress plugin (by Facebook), it now supports CAPI integration natively. Here’s how:
- Install the “Facebook for WordPress” plugin (a.k.a. Meta Pixel plugin).
- Connect your Pixel and follow the guided steps inside Events Manager.
- CAPI will auto-enable in most cases — but double-check in Events Manager → Diagnostics.
- You should see both Browser and Server events firing (called “Event Matching Quality”).
Note: While this is simple, the data quality may be limited compared to a full CAPI implementation.
Option 2: Use a Third-Party Tool (for More Control)
If you want deeper tracking (like custom events, enhanced match, or better data reliability), you can use:

- WPCode / GTM (Google Tag Manager) – If you’re more technical, you can implement CAPI via GTM server-side.

When You Should Use a Third-Party:

You want to improve event match quality (e.g., match on email, name, phone).
