Google Maps Ads are paid advertisements that appear within Google Maps when people search for businesses, services, or places nearby. They can appear as promoted pins on the map, ads in Maps search results, autocomplete suggestions, or on certain business detail pages.
For example, a restaurant, retailer, or local service business can use Maps Ads to increase visibility and encourage customers to call, visit a website, get directions, or visit the business. The ads are managed through Google Ads and can use different campaign types and bidding models depending on the setup.
The important distinction is that Google Maps Ads are paid placements, while your regular Google Business Profile listing can appear organically on Maps. Also, you currently cannot restrict a Google Ads campaign to Maps only; eligible campaigns can serve across other Google surfaces as well.
