Google Business Profile edits can affect an active Maps advertising campaign if the changes affect the information Google uses for the campaign’s location assets or eligibility. Google Ads pulls location information directly from the linked Business Profile, so changes to the address, phone number, business status, or other location details can flow into the ads after Google reviews and approves the edit.
The biggest risk is with major changes. For example, changing the business address may require the Business Profile to be verified again, while marking a location as permanently or temporarily closed can prevent its location asset from appearing in ads. Google also reviews profile edits, and some changes can remain pending for up to 30 days.
So, if you are running Maps Ads, I’d avoid making major GBP changes without checking the linked location asset afterward. Make sure the business name, address, phone number, hours, and location status are accurate and consistent. If a location becomes ineligible or the location asset stops syncing, your Maps advertising can be affected.
